| September, 2004 | THE LATEST SCOOP ON YOUR FARMLAND | Volume 16, Number 3 |
Well, that's the trouble, isn't it? There is no Pima cotton news in September. The growing season is over and we can only wait for the harvest results. The growing season has been nearly ideal and our tenant has reason to hope for a good crop, but we just won't know for awhile. Our tenant's repair on the well provided much more water volume, allowing for better irrigation scheduling. How that will effect the yield remains to be seen.
Roundup Application, Regular Defoliation Soon
Our tenant's Pima cotton received a one quart/acre application of Roundup herbicide for weed control and to "prime" the plants for defoliation. The defoliation will take place in early and mid-October. Below is a photograph of the Pima cotton on September 30th.

The Elections
We understand that there are some elections coming up in the United States in early November. While we do not make voting recommendations, we do urge the reader to check the various candidates' records and positions on the issues that are the most important to each of us. And, of course, we never recommend voting for higher taxes or Democrats.
