| March, 2003 | THE LATEST SCOOP ON YOUR FARMLAND | Volume 15, Number 1 |
Our tenant's wheat crop has suffered from more than the usual difficulties this past winter. It had the expected weed infestation that has been countered by a timely aerial application of Buctril selective herbicide. It also had rust, a fungal disease that is very uncommon in wheat growing in the northern San Joaquin Valley. The rust was probably caused by the warm winter. In any case, another timely aerial application, this time of Tilt, has largely controlled the rust. Despite these problems, the wheat looks fairly good, as can be seen in this photograph, taken in late March.

Wheat in Late March
Special Farmland News Update - April 1
Our tenant has recently been seeing strange objects flying in the skies above our farmland. The origins and characteristics of these objects is currently unknown. Below is a photograph of one of the objects. Calls to the local air defense authorities and the Department of Homeland Security have gone unreturned. We have no idea what these objects are, nor what their appearance may portend. Caution must be the order of the day.
