El Niņo Disaster
This year our tenant planted all his Acala cotton to the Phytogen 33 variety that produced so well last year. The Acala was planted on May 1st. Unusually cold and wet weather delayed the Acala's emergence and caused a very thin stand. The Acala is also at least three weeks late.
Our tenant also planted milo this year. Milo is a very short season crop, so it is not late at all. Unfortunately, the profit potential of milo is nil. These photographs were taken on June 24th.
